Harriet will be giving a presentation on working in different music worlds (classical/jazz/folk) as a freelance musician. As well as talking about developing rhythmic and harmonic ideas which span any genre to use as a compositional and improvisational tool.
Originally from Devon, Harriet grew up in a musical household and went on to study Orchestral Percussion at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. She has experience in a range of genres from large ensemble jazz vibraphone and marimba with Jason Yarde’s Acoustic Bombastic to orchestral playing with BBC National Orchestra of Wales, studying gamelan in Bali to folk duo with Alex Garden. Harriet performs regularly with Spindle Ensemble, a contemporary classical quartet. Harriet also works as a composer, often for collaborative projects with dance and theatre.
